Reader Fred Duck has submitted a way to enable Corel Painter Essentials 4 Quick Look previews. Thanks, Fred!

Fred noticed that the free preview of Corel Painter Essentials 4 includes a Quick Look plugin for Painter files. The filename is “Corel Painter.mdimporter”. To avoid licensing issues, we have decided not to host the file, but rather direct users to the article where this is mentioned:

This is not a quicklook plugin. How I wish. Its a spotlight plugin. It doesn’t do much. Not worth the install and extraction if you have painter already.

Ah ha. I guess I was in a bit of a hurry and didn’t notice that yes, the file I pointed out was in fact a Spotlight plugin.

    Let me try again…

So, inside the package bundle, there’s a Library folder, which has:

A Spotlight plugin called “Corel Painter.mdimporter” in the Spotlight folder.
A QuickLook plugin called “Corel Painter.qlgenerator” in the QuickLook folder.

Also, this QuickLook plugin is not just for “Corel Painter Essentials 4” files, but for any “Painter” files. Files made with very old versions of Fractal Design Painter work just fine!
